Sweden has made a decision about the man that Turkey’s president, Erdogan wants extradited, reports SVT.

The man has been detained in Sweden awaiting a decision on extradition since December 2021, six months before it became known that Sweden would apply for NATO membership.

According to the Supreme Court, there are no obstacles under the Extradition Act to extradite the man.

It appears from the court documents that the man has been sentenced several times for fraud to prison in Turkey, documents that TT has seen.

The man himself claims that he is wrongly convicted and refers to the fact that he converted from Islam to Christianity in 2010.

As a result, he was threatened by a Turkish nationalist group.

In a written comment to TV4 Nyheterna, Morgan Johansson (S) writes:

“This is a normal routine matter. The person in question is a Turkish citizen and convicted of fraud offenses in Turkey in 2013 and 2016. The request for extradition was received last year. The Supreme Court has examined the issue as usual and concluded that there are no obstacles to extradition to serve the sentence.”
