Woudenberg – First the Vuelta, a year later the Tour. Joop Zoetemelk is the first and only Dutchman who was able to imitate Jan Janssen (1967, 1968). The gifted climber and time trialist from Rijpwetering won in Spain in 1979. It became a kind of springboard to the Tour victory in 1980. On the terrace at his house in Germigny-L’Évêque, just east of Paris, Zoetemelk went back to that success time for a podcast in the run-up to the start of the Vuelta in Utrecht.
