The new virtual reality glasses developed jointly by Stanford University and Nvidia promise a much more comfortable experience.
Stanford University researchers and Nvidia are working on new virtual reality glasses. The biggest promise of these glasses is actually to be an alternative to the most basic problem, uncomfortable, huge headrest sets.
Although this device, similar to the glasses we are used to, looks a little funny because of the strips extending from the top of the glasses, it aims to narrow the difference between giant virtual reality glasses and small glasses design.
New virtual reality glasses aim to provide a more comfortable experience
The following statements were included in the research report published by Nvidia:
“One of the main reasons that hinder the widespread adoption of VR technology is the excessive volume and discomfort they cause of the VR glasses currently in use.” These new glasses, called “Holographic Glasses”, produce 3D holographic images with 2.5 mm thin optics.
Conventional VR sets work with a huge lens enlarging a small image, while these new glasses aim to get rid of these annoying lenses. The pancake lenses used by these new glasses can offer unlimited resolution, that is, with these glasses, it is possible to reach the resolution of the usual VR glasses.
These glasses, which are many times lighter than current virtual reality sets, are 60 grams and VR glasses are 503 grams. These devices, which are currently in the testing phase, could be a critical step for virtual reality if it becomes widespread one day.
