Jumping and climbing are very important in Tower of Fantasy, but players have already identified a problem with the mechanics. MeinMMO shows you what’s behind it.

What’s the problem? The MMORPG Tower of Fantasy celebrated its release on August 11th. A day later, videos of players having a problem with one of the core features of the game – climbing and the associated recognition of edges – are already circulating on reddit. Server problems and long queues were already a big topic within the community.

Now jumping and climbing is under criticism because it is of great importance in the MMORPG. In general, the title relies on a rapid movement. In the huge Tower of Fantasy map, towers and platforms are distributed appropriately, which the players can climb – provided that this works properly.

However, based on the criticism of the players, this is not the case, as the video by reddit user Chilicrunch shows, whose character keeps slipping off an edge. Even when he jetpacked over the tower he was unsuccessfully trying to climb and dropped onto the platform from the top, his character slipped off the ledge again.

Is this a common problem? The Chilicrunch post containing the video already has 1,100 upvotes and 118 comments after just under a day. This gives the impression that the reddit user is not alone in his experience and the content of the comments points in the same direction:

  • Morbu via reddit: “I’m almost positive it would be better to just remove the climbing mechanic and rework the jetpack. It would definitely save both players and developers a headache.”
  • zLSosukezL via reddit: “I tried to scale one of these (towers) with a ladder but it wouldn’t let me go to the top.
  • Brislovia via reddit: “Same for me, every time I got to the top I immediately fell behind.”
  • MLWillRuleTheWorld via reddit: “Yeah, honestly, the only thing that really annoyed me so far was the poor edge detection and climbing mechanics.”
  • Nosereddit via reddit: “This is the most annoying thing this game has to offer. I am forced to always use the jetpack.”

    • The problem with edge detection is so present that reddit user JessySnowdrop even jokingly suggested that this is the reason for the existence of jetpacks (via reddit).

    Is there a solution to the problem? There is currently no known solution to the edge detection problem, as it does not appear to be a bug and the edge detection is currently not optimized. However, as Chilicrunch already showed in his video, using the jetpack is a popular workaround.
