The Netflix adaptation of Joe Hills and Gabriel Rodriguez’s graphic novel Locke & Key concludes its third season and sends the Locke family into one final war against demons and dangerous echoes from the past that are haunting them the magic keys and their unique abilities want to get your hands on.

In the first two seasons of Locke & Key there were already 19 magic keys to discover. The finale introduces five more. So in total there are whole 24 keys in the fantasy series to admire.

    Locke & Key: Animal Key

  • first seen: Season 3, Episode 1 – The Snow Globe
  • capabilities: The Pet Key can be used to open a specific small door in the Keyhouse. Whoever crawls through the opened door will be transformed into an animal.
  • further information: Bode (Jackson Robert Scott) and Kinsey (Emilia Jones) use the animal key to transform into a bird and a cat at the beginning of Season 3. The door, which can be opened using the animal key, was already discovered at the end of season 2. In the original, this key is called Animal Key. He comes from the comic template.

    Locke & Key: Snow Globe Key

  • first seen: Season 3, Episode 1 – The Snow Globe
  • capabilities: The snow globe key only works in combination with a special snow globe. This represents a mini version of the Keyhouse. When both artifacts are connected, the user is transported inside the snow globe. The ball can be used as a magic prison.
  • further information: Called Snow Globe Key in English, it first appeared in the comics. However, its function was first revealed in the Netflix series.

    Locke & Key: Time Shift Key

  • first seen: Season 3, Episode 2 – Uninvited Guests
  • capabilities: The Time Key opens the door to a special grandfather clock that allows time travel. In this magical device, a specific point in time can be set to which you can travel back. While the time traveler can interact with people in the past, they cannot alter time.
  • further information: In the original, this key is called the time shift key. He’s also from the comics. Bode is not the first person to discover this key. Already his uncle Duncan and his father Rendell experimented with it as teenagers.

    • New keys in Locke & Key Season 3: Harlequin Keys

    Locke & Key: Harlequin Key

  • first seen: Season 3, Episode 2 – Uninvited Guests
  • capabilities: The Harlequin Key only works in conjunction with a special chest. He opens and closes the Harlequin Chest, which cannot be opened otherwise.
  • further information: This key is taken from the comic template. In the original it is called Harlequin Key or Masquerade Key. The Lockes use the key to hide their valuable keys in the Harlequin chest. It was created by Benjamin and Miranda Locke.

  • first seen: Season 3, Episode 7 – The Curtain
  • capabilities: The Creation Key works as a kind of magic pen. Every drawing made with it comes to life. The creation can also be destroyed again by using the key as an eraser.
  • further information: In English, this key calls them Creation Key. He was invented for the Netflix series and is not from the graphic novel template.

    • Locke & Key Season 3 consists of eight episodes, which has been available on Netflix since August 10, 2022. This is the series finale. There will be no more season 4.
