The streaming music platform has just announced the deployment of a new interface for its mobile application. Android users are first served.
Spotify has just announced the deployment of a new home page within its mobile application. The platform will now offer a separate stream for music and podcasts. The service explains that it wants to help listeners navigate more easily to discover content that appeals to them. These two new independent feeds are thus supposed to offer a more personalized experience that will allow users to “dig deeper into their recommendations”.
The dedicated Music feed will provide quick access to suggestions based on individual tastes. Spotify explains that this should make it easier to discover new favorites. This feed will also include album and playlist recommendations as well as new buttons to share, like and play music.
As for the Podcasts and shows feed, it will offer direct access to the latest episodes of the programs to which you are subscribed and will offer personalized recommendations. In addition, it will be possible to directly access the description of the episodes, to save them in Your episodes or to start playing a podcast without having to leave the page.
The deployment of this new home page is in progress for all Android users. However, we will have to wait a few more weeks for it to be offered on the iOS mobile application.
Spotify had already started a project to improve its interface in 2020. At the time, the streaming platform had inaugurated a simplified navigation, had modernized its play button as well as the action buttons. The service had also introduced album covers in playlists to find songs more easily.
A year later, in 2021, the platform continued by rolling out a new interface for Your Library. With this redesign, Spotify intended to offer a new way to explore the library. The service had notably introduced new dynamic filters, but also integrated the possibility of pinning up to four playlists at the top of the library to access them more quickly.
