The boy in Skellefteå most likely older

In July, a girl was found badly injured in Morö Backe in Skellefteå and a preliminary investigation into murder was started. The girl has since woken up, but is still in hospital.

The age information on the 13-year-old boy who was suspected of the crime has been met with doubt, and an age assessment has now been carried out and it shows that the boy is at least 15 years old.

Early in the investigation, however, doubts arose about this information. When the suspect was first interviewed by the police, he himself stated that his registered date of birth is incorrect and that he is actually 15 years old. His parents have since also confirmed to the police that this is the case.

– The parents have explained in police interrogations that they accidentally entered the wrong date of birth for their son when they came to Sweden. It also seems to be something that has since been reported to the Swedish authorities, says chamber prosecutor Irene Falk, who is the acting head of the preliminary investigation.

Prosecutors judged that there was reason to assume that the suspect turned 15 at the time of the acts and decided to carry out a medical age assessment of him. His teeth and hand/wrist have been X-rayed and doctors have assessed based on these examinations that the results indicate that the suspect is 15 years or older.
