She will lead Hockey Canada during the review of the organization over its handling of sexual harassment allegations against members of Canada’s junior national team.
Skinner, a Toronto lawyer, is the first woman to lead Hockey Canada’s board of directors. She succeeds Michael Brind’Amour, who resigned last week.
The scandal in Canadian ice hockey, which has not led to charges or been tried in court, was rolled up last spring when it was noticed that a woman, who accused players from Canada’s 2018 JVM team of sexual harassment, reached a settlement with the country’s hockey association and the junior hockey league CHL that the players belonged during the summer of 2018 when the incident should have taken place.
