Driver suffers serious injuries in single vehicle crash

Norfolk OPP are investigating a single-vehicle collision that sent one person to hospital on Saturday

The collision took place just before 4 pm Saturday (Aug. 6) at a Turkey Point Road, Charlotteville address.

Police say the 19-year-old driver was northbound on Turkey Point Road, lost control and rolled the vehicle near Charlotteville Road 10.

The driver was initially taken to a local area hospital to be treated for serious life-threatening injuries and was later airlifted by Ornge to a Hamilton hospital. The injuries were later determined to be serious non-life threatening in nature, police said.

The investigation is continuing, and further updates will be provided when they become available.

“The OPP would like to take this opportunity to thank the Good Samaritans that called 9-1-1 and immediately stopped and provided assistance to the driver involved in this collision,” Insp. Jodi Kays, the Norfolk OPP detachment commander, said in a media release.
