Ridgetown woman accused of attacking former partner with knife

Chatham-Kent police are investigating after a man was killed after the motorcycle he was driving struck a tree.

Emergency crews responded to the collision on Orford Road just south of Selton Line in Orford Township just before 10:30 pm Saturday, police said.

Police said the driver of the motorcycle was traveling north when he left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver was ejected and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Family members have been notified and the name of the driver is not being released at this time, police said.

Pair-charged

A 48-year-old Chatham woman and 45-year-old Chatham man are facing charges in connection to a dispute with each other.

Chatham-Kent police were initially called to a domestic dispute at a Chatham residence just before 1 pm Saturday.

Investigation revealed the woman, who had been released with conditions to not attend the residence, went there twice on the same day, police said.

She was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with her release order and released with a Sept. 9 court date.

Around 6 p.m. Saturday, police said the man involved in the incident, attended the woman’s home after her release and allegedly assaulted her.

He was arrested and charged with assault and taken into custody pending a bail hearing, police said.
