#SessionLive with Brisa Day Roché & Marnix Dorrestein aka IX

BRMD aka Brisa Roché & IX, an omnivorous musical duo inspired by 60s pop, 80s electronics and modern hip-hop.

In 2007, the young Dutch teenager Marnix Dorrestein got his hands on a compilation of Rock & Folk and discovered the solar and hypnotic title of Brisa Roché- Heavy Dreaming. It’s love at first sight.

Fast forward nine years and fate brings them face to face on an urgent composition, the beginning of a lively and close collaboration where their qualities (speed, openness in style) come together in 17 pieces written between Paris and Amsterdam. Distilled into 13 songs, a refreshing pop album was born – natural, emotional and modernist. The skillful voices respond to each other and dance in the wake of androgyny, mixing acoustic orchestrations, lush harmonies and electronic production and plunging us into a carefree musical atmosphere, in the manner of a contemporary Gershwingian blues. Eras and styles intersect, from academicism to futuristic experimentation, a tribal rhapsody where you can lose yourself in the restorative bath of joyful chaos.

Marnix Dorrestein received a Gold Record for producing and co-writing the album Kersvers by Herman van Veen and an Edison Prize for modern adaptations of 17th century music on the album hush with mezzo-soprano Nora Fischer. An independent producer, he has been creative and directed in dozens of international projects.

American artist Brisa Roche signed to Blue Note in 2005. His inimitable voice and rich production angles have given each of his 9 personal albums cult status. In 2017, she founded the independent label Black Ash and, in 2019, she produced 6 songs for the ceremonies of the Deauville American Film Festival. Writer, composer and producer, her catalog of records and artists continues to grow.
