Taiwan accuses China of simulated attack

Taiwan accuses China’s military of simulating an attack on the country’s main island.

Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan earlier this week during a tour of Asia. During the week, China deployed warplanes and warships in large exercises near Taiwan where live ammunition was also used. The mobilization is being described as a response to Speaker Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, which China considers its own territory.

Taiwan’s military said in a statement that it observed several Chinese aircraft and ships in the Taiwan Strait on Saturday, and said it believed they were simulating an attack on the main island.
