A new wave of extreme heat is now hitting France. The heat worsens the drought in the country and has meant that the drinking water has run out in over 100 municipalities.
Other municipalities have been urged to save on tap and drinking water.
The French state is now actively coordinating the delivery of potable water to the affected areas by truck.
The drought means a “disaster” for the country’s farmers as well as for ecosystems and biological diversity, writes the Prime Minister’s Office in a statement.
