Eight dead after explosion in Kabul

At least eight people have been killed and 18 injured after a bomb exploded in the Afghan capital Kabul, the Taliban said.

The bomb detonated in a cart in a market in the western parts of the city, near a mosque in a Shia Muslim area.

The police state that an investigation has been launched, and that they are trying to find the perpetrators.

The number of violent attacks in Afghanistan has decreased since the Taliban regained power in the country last year, but the terrorist organization IS has continued to target Shia Muslims. The minority group makes up between 10 and 20 percent of Afghanistan’s population of 38 million.
