Häagen-Dazs is recalling all its vanilla-based products, writes the Swedish Food Agency in a press release. The reason is that trace amounts of 2-chloroethanol, which is a residue from pesticides, have been found in the vanilla flavor used in the ice cream.
The following flavors are covered: Belgian Chocolate, Macadamia Nut Brittle, Cookies & Cream, Duo Belgian Chocolate & Vanilla.
Since 2021, it has been prohibited to sell products containing the pesticide within the EU.
