Disney has a completely different version of Prey

As of today, the new Predator film Prey is available on Disney+. The sci-fi horror travels 200 years into the past in the wild west of North America. There the alien warrior fights one Comanche tribe (and European trappers). The new approach for Predator is absolutely successful and you can even use it in experience two completely different versions.

There is another language version of Prey that you should definitely check out

Prey – Trailer (German) HD

The main character in Prey is Amber Midthunder as Naru, who wants to prove that she is a good hunter and warrior. Naru talks to her brother and the other members of the tribe only briefly in their indigenous mother tongue. The film quickly changes to English or, in the German dubbed version, to German. However, there is also a version of the film that entirely in the Comanche language is held. And it’s worth it, because the change in language is a clearly recognizable break in a film that is otherwise very focused on realism.

The second version of Prey on Disney+

A small dampener for those who are not quite sure-footed in the English language: Unfortunately, there is English subtitles only in this version. Another possibility would be to let the film run without subtitles, which certainly also has an atmospheric appeal.

How the Comanche version of Prey came about

The movie was on shot in English. Only after the fact was a Comanche audio track recorded and superimposed on the film, Variety reports. Prey wanted to represent the indigenous culture of the Comanches as accurately as possible. Producer Jhane Myers, who has Comanche roots, among other things, was hired for this. She recommends: “You must [Prey] look twice.”
