A new investigation that was handed over to the government today suggests that mental abuse should become a crime under a separate law.
This means that belittling, insulting or offensive treatment can be punishable.
It is already possible to sentence someone for mental violence within the framework of crimes such as molestation, illegal coercion, and insult.
But the investigation believes that the possibility of sentencing someone for mental violence needs to be strengthened. It is therefore proposed that mental abuse be introduced as a special crime with its own law. The penalty shall be imprisonment for a minimum of 14 days and a maximum of four years.
The toughening of the law should also help and address psychological violence and oppression of honor.
