Square Enix removes the leak of the next Tom Rai

Remember, a few days ago, the “Sacred Symbol” podcast revealed the first information concerning the scenario of the next Tomb Raider, developed under Unreal Engine 5. Colin Moriarty, host of the podcast in question, let it be known that he had put hand over the script for the game, or rather casting notes, that had been sent to the actors, and he had read it on his show. In this self-proclaimed scoop, we learned that the game had the code name “Project Jawbreaker” (literally “The Project that takes the jaw) and that Lara Croft would have “romantic sequences with another female character”. Enough to make fans of the adventurer react strongly, but players in general. While some find it difficult to conceive that Lara Croft could have a homosexual relationship, others find that placing a romantic relationship in the game is irrelevant. One like the other, forums and other social networks have been on fire in recent days.

However, until proven otherwise, nothing could make us believe that this leak was authentic, except that just a few hours ago, Square Enix (which is still the publisher of the Tomb Raider license) used official channels to have this information deleted. For a few hours, therefore, the podcast has been removed for copyright infringement, which suggests that the information seems to be true. When we know the practices of publishers who never comment on rumours, whatever they are, there is reason to ask questions in the face of this reaction. This obviously gives a lot of credit to these production notes and it remains to be seen whether Crystal Dynamcis will always keep this desire to make Lara Croft an LGBT spokesperson in the world of video games, or will backtrack so as not to offend some fans. Wait and see…
