Science fiction worlds want to challenge us again and again, also in the series area. Especially when the visions of the future that are shown have rough edges that can rub against us, your own head starts to work while watching. Sci-Fi is not a cuddly genre, but at best questions our own perspective. Just such a series is Raised by Wolves, which is starting its second and unfortunately last season in Germany today.
Science fiction in round 2: Vikings star accompanies Raised by Wolves in the new season
Similar to Foundation, the sci-fi series Raised by Wolves catapults us into an often unfamiliar, sometimes uncomfortable, but always fascinating and visually stunning vision of the future: The two androids mother (Amanda Collin) and father (Abubakar Salim) are supposed to raise several human children on the distant planet Kepler-22b. Behind them lies a massive war in which they were used as killer machines, and ahead of them is a hostile world that they will soon have to share with religious fanatics like Marcus (Vikings star Travis Fimmel).

After Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Blade Runner) directed the first two episodes of this extraordinary sci-fi series and introduced us to the first season, in season 2 we move to a new region of the planet that is no less dangerous: An acid ocean, hungry trees, a giant flying snake and new human-android conflicts expect us. The sides are by no means always as clear as they might initially appear. So the intergalactic settlers must try to overcome their belief differences. The recent unexpected cancellation of Raised by Wolves after Season 2 was a huge blow to fans of the series because the Sudden end of Raised by Wolves hurts the whole sci-fi genre. But even if the end of the series will probably never tell how the fate of the settlers on Kepler-22b finally ends, the 2nd season still has an independent story arc that once again captivates us in a new way. So the fear of cliffhangers that will never be resolved is no excuse not to follow the series into its exciting vision anyway.

Just those Perspective of the android motherto which we are bound early on and which repeatedly puts our perception of what we see in a new light with an “emotional logic”, makes the science fiction excursion strange and engaging at the same time.
The second season of Raised by Wolves starts today at Warner TV (e.g. included in the Sky package). 8:15 p.m with two episodes. The series will then be broadcast weekly with two (of a total of eight) new sci-fi episodes.
