The center party wants the law on gender affiliation to be changed and the definition of a third gender to be made an election issue.
Party chairwoman Annie Lööf tells TV4 during Pride Week that she thinks it’s important work because there are people around the country who feel bad because they feel they don’t belong to a female or male gender.
– We think it is reasonable that you investigate the issue because status should treat all residents equally and that you will then be confirmed for who you are, she says.
Already in 2019, party chairman Annie Lööf came out and said that the Center Party wanted to see a change in the legislation, something they had previously said no to. This is because the two legal genders: male and female, which the Swedish judiciary is based on today, do not suit everyone.
