In the border area between the Czech Republic and Germany, a very extensive forest fire has been raging for over a week.
The inaccessible mountain area makes the extinguishing work complicated and two Swedish aircraft with pilots and technicians are helping with the extinguishing work – part of the EU’s protection cooperation where countries help each other.
It is the second time that these two Swedish aircraft, with the name Fireboss, are allowed to move out internationally.
– In Sweden, we have four aircraft. Two of them are for our national preparedness, while two of them are for this particular EU capability called rescEU, says Markus Green, MSB coordinator.
In addition to the two Swedish planes, there are 550 firefighters on site and 13 helicopters.
