We’ve known since the weekend: After Phase 4, which ends with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be expanded by at least two more phases. After the Infinity saga, here we have the Multiverse saga to do. Kevin Feige’s big master plan hasn’t really worked out so far.
Although there is a common thread with the multiverse and with Kang that connects many of the current and upcoming MCU projects, phase 4 is waiting some inconsistencies on. Countless new characters and locations are introduced. The individual stories only come together to a limited extent.
Has the MCU completely forgotten the events of Eternals again?
One picture in particular is causing an uproar among the fans. In last year’s Marvel blockbuster Eternals, Earth will be at the
Birth of the Celestial Tiamut almost completely destroyed. The giant is literally erupting from the core of the planet. This incredible event was never mentioned again afterwards.

That pretty much sums up the chaotic phase 4 of the MCU. Many narrative strands run parallel to each other. It however, there is no consciousness for all of these things to happen in the same universe. Instead, the individual characters are too busy with their own challenges.
The first three phases seemed much more focused. The post-credit scenes of recent MCU movies make the problem worse: One character after another is introduced. Eros (Harry Styles) was followed by Clea (Charlize Theron) and finally Hercules (Brett Goldstein) also spoke up. Elegant storytelling looks different.
