Shakhtar Donetsk took off in the second half and quickly took a 2-1 lead. Dmytro Kryskiv took a cross within the box to his chest and hit the ball well. Utrecht then went looking for the equalizer and found it halfway through the second half, although the Ukrainians needed an own goal for that. Sergiy Kryvtsov unluckily headed a cross from Hidde ter Avest into the wrong goal. There were still some chances in the latter part of the game, but neither team managed to pull off a win.
