The UN and the Red Cross are now requesting an investigation into the attack on a prison in eastern Ukraine. Russia and Ukraine blame each other for the attack in which at least 50 imprisoned Ukrainian servicemen were killed.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense states that the attack took place with the US Himars rocket artillery system. Moscow has launched an investigation into the attack. Ukraine denies the accusations, saying it never attacks civilian targets and that it was Russia that deliberately attacked the building.
– In this way, the Russian occupiers can achieve their criminal goals – to accuse Ukraine of committing ‘war crimes’ as well as to hide the torture of prisoners and executions, writes the Ukrainian military in a statement.
