North Korea admitted for the first time that covid-19 was present in the country in May. Hard restrictions were then introduced in the country.
Since then, 4.8 million cases of “fever” have been recorded and 74 deaths have been confirmed. According to the country’s fraud prevention center, the mortality rate for covid-19 in the country should be 0.0016 percent.
The figures reported by the dictatorship are strongly doubted by experts and the number of deaths and infections is believed to be greatly underestimated. In the past, the World Health Organization WHO, among others, has questioned the country’s claim that it has the situation under control.
“The organizational strength and unity unique to (North Korean, ed) society is outstanding in the struggle to succeed in the emergency epidemic control,” North Korea’s state-run Central News Agency reported on Saturday.
