During recent attacks against positions of the defense and security forces in Burkina Fasowomen were seen alongside the terrorists, according to the commander of anti-jihadist operations.
In Barsalogho, on July 10, women encouraged and fought alongside terrorists. In Kelbo, on July 25, terrorists injured during an attack on an armed forces detachment were rescued by women, according to the Burkinabè defense and security forces.
This active participation of women alongside armed terrorist groups takes several forms, according to Salimata Nebié Conombo, Minister of Gender and Family.
The extent of this involvement of women in the terrorist attacks in Burkina Faso worries the authorities of the transition, who urge them to abandon the armed struggle.
The government announces the establishment of a general directorate, “women, peace and securitywithin the Ministry of Gender and Family. Its purpose is to enable women to participate effectively in the peace process through, among other things, community mediation or negotiation.
