On Friday, Spain reported that one person had died from the monkeypox outbreak, in what is the first known death from the virus in Europe, Reuters reports.
The death is the second in the world outside of Africa. In the past, even the death of a person could be related to monkeypox in Brazil.
According to the latest statistics from the Spanish authorities, around 4,300 cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in the country. More than a hundred are said to have been treated in hospital.
