The rescue of people at sea is free, regardless of the time spent and the means implemented. It is a tradition and an international rule. Relations between the various parties involved in the rescue chain are excellent and the system is entirely satisfactory.

The rescuers at sea may request the assistance of the fire brigade or the Samu, for evacuation to the nearest hospital according to the gravity cases.

The cost of rescue at sea

The cost is borne by the National Society of Lifeguards in sea (SNSM) when it intervenes, and by the community when it is the services of the State (national navy, maritime affairs, customs, gendarmerie, civil security, etc.).
