Wallaceburg man charged with drug offenses

A 60-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with several drug-related offenses following the search of a Fraser Street property on July 21 by OPP from Lambton and Essex counties as well as the Chatham-Kent Police Service.

Lambton OPP says suspected methamphetamine worth roughly $15,000 was seized.

The accused has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with an undertaking.

OPP said the search warrant was a result of investigations that were initiated in response to the State of Emergency declared by Walpole Island First Nation following several illicit drug related incidents.

It said the Lambton detachment continues to work in conjunction with the Walpole Police Service and the Chatham-Kent Police Service to address the opioid-related crisis.
