For the first time in history, the tournament will now end with the women’s final, previously it has always been the men’s final.
“We are delighted to announce that the women’s Olympic football final will, for the first time, conclude the tournament,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino in a statement on the FIFA website.
Olympic football runs between 24 July and 10 August 2024 with the final being played at the Parc des Princes on 10 August. The men’s final is played the day before.
Canada is the reigning Olympic champion after defeating Sweden on penalties in the final last year.
