[EN VIDÉO] Kézako: what effect does the wind have on the feeling of heat?
If a little refreshing breeze is welcome in summer, we would do well without it in winter. The wind seems to have the gift of making the thermometer lie. But the feeling of heat or cold is in fact a skin-deep experience, which Unisciel and the University of Lille 1 intend to explain in this episode of Kézako.

It’s our brain which controls perspiration and therefore the secretion of sweat via the sweat glands. This very ingenious mechanism allows to evacuate the heat during the days of heat wave. If it is absolutely essential and should in no case be stopped, no one wants to have sweat marks on his clothes, in the back or worse, under the arms. Here are some tips to prevent it.

What clothes to wear to avoid sweat marks?

Avoid clothes that are too tight, especially around the armpits. Choose loose, even high-cut or sleeveless outfits if possible. The materials synthetics promote perspiration, prefer natural materials such as cotton or so-called “breathable” fabrics.

The traces of perspiration are seen a little less on the clothes of color darker than on light colored clothes. But the former absorb more heat than the latter.

How to sweat less?

It seems obvious but it may be useful to remember it: to sweat less and therefore avoid unsightly marks on your clothes, move as little as possible if you are in an overheated environment. Prefer the pavement in the shade to that which is exposed to the Sun when you are driving down the street. Walk slower and save effort physical. In your office, create a current ofair if possible or use a fan.

Finally, if you have an important appointment in the afternoon, simply plan a spare shirt to put on just before the appointment. You will be sure to be flawless. Also remember that stress increases sweating ! So the more you think about it, the more you are likely to sweat.

Are there treatments?

If your level of sweating is constantly bothersome in your daily life, talk to your pharmacist or your doctor. This will first check whether your perspiration is indeed abnormally high.

If that is the case, antiperspirants can be advised. based on salts ofaluminum, they clog the sweat glands to prevent sweat from escaping. They should be applied in the evening at bedtime on clean, dry skin. The product is then eliminated in the morning in the shower. A treatment with application daily allows the situation to normalize in a few weeks. A maintenance treatment with application 1 to 2 times per month may be necessary.
