Was heavily criticized

It was an evenly played first half. But it was England who went into the half-time break with a 1–0 lead after Arsenal star Beth Mead outwitted the Swedish defense towards the end of the half.

When Sweden came out hard after the break, it was still England who were the best offensively in the penalty area. The match went well, and Sweden conceded three more goals.

Afterwards, Sweden was heavily criticized, and above all the goalkeeper and veteran Hedvig Lindahl, who many believed should have acted better on several of England’s goals.

“I do not agree”

– You never want to concede four goals. I’m going to take a lot of crap from those who feel disappointed about this loss, but I know what happened out there. I tried my best, I was no better than this today, she told Expressen after the match.

When she picked up the phone later in the evening, several people had heard negative calls via social media.

– I had some messages about how bad I am. It is part of our role. I don’t always agree that I’m the worst in the whole world. As much as you are not a star, you are not the worst either, says Lindahl.

The goalkeeper still chooses to focus on the positives from the championship in England.

– We have got real fans who will be with us for the next championship. It’s awesome and powerful. I’ve had lots of messages from young people saying we’re great and they want to play on Friends. It’s amazing and I’m proud that we’ve been able to awaken that power.
