Baldur’s Gate 2 voice actor David Warner has died at the age of 80 due to cancer.
Anyone who’s played Baldur’s Gate 2 and its expansion Siege of Dragonspear will recognize the voice of the main villain out there. However, we regret to say that that voice is no longer with us, David Warner passed away at the age of 80 due to cancer. He also appeared in many important movies such as Titanic.
The voice of Baldur’s Gate 2 villain Jon Irenicus has passed away
David Warner, the voice actor of Jon Irenicus, who appeared as the main villain in Baldur’s Gate 2’s Siege of Dragonspear expansion pack, has passed away at the age of 80. The cause of his death was reported to be cancer. Family members released the following statement:
“Over the past 18 months, he has approached his diagnosis with characteristic grace and dignity. We will be greatly missed by his family and friends and remembered as a kind, generous and caring man, partner and father whose extraordinary work has touched the lives of many over the years. His passing has broken our hearts. “
David Warren began his acting career playing Shakespeare on stage but soon moved on to films where he is known for performances in classics such as The Omen, Titanic, Time Bandits and Tron. He also appeared in productions such as Doctor Who, Star Trek and Wallander.
He began his career in the games industry in 1996 and has since voiced projects such as Privateer 2: The Darkening, Baldur’s Gate 2, Star Wars: Force Commander, Descent 3 and Star Trek: Klingon Academy. He also voiced Jon Irenicus in Siege of Dragonspear, which was published as part of the Enhanced Edition version of Baldur’s Gate 2 released in 2016.
