In less than 15 years, the number of children with disabilities received in schools has tripled. Support, recruitment of AESH, interview with families… Here are the measures planned for the start of the school year for inclusive school.
Following a meeting with a national inclusive school monitoring committee on July 25, 2022, the government announced new measures to promote the reception of students in a situation of disability from the start of the 2022 school year. The latter will be more than 430,000 to return to school in September, a figure which has tripled in less than 15 years. “The 2022 finance law devotes 3.5 billion euros to inclusive schools, i.e. 211 million euros more than the previous year. says the government.
What measures at the start of the 2022 school year for students with disabilities?
- At the start of the 2022 academic year, the government plans to creation of 303 new localized units for inclusive education (ULIS) bringing their total number to 10,272.
- The number of AESH will also be increased with the creation of 4,000 additional positions.
- 84 new devices for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) will be created at the start of the school year, in kindergarten (teaching units in autism kindergarten (UEMA)), as well as in elementary school (teaching units in elementary autism (UEEA)).
- Of the teaching units for children with multiple disabilities will also be created.
- The government also wants strengthen dialogue with families, in particular with the establishment of a single toll free number which allows you to reach a departmental or national cell: 0 805 805 110.
- At the start of the school year, students benefit from a welcome interview between the families, the teacher and the AESH if necessary, in order to discuss the schooling arrangements implemented for the school year.
- An inclusive course digital booklet has been set up to improve the links between the players involved in student support.
“These measures will be maintained for the next school year. This committee has been an opportunity for a fruitful exchange with all the members. The education of all students with disabilities will be a priority for my action” declared the Minister of National Education Pap Ndiaye.
