Boons Markt and Albert Heijn in Utrecht are no longer

“First corona and now this”, sighs Nawin Harpal, owner of Boon’s Markt. Every two years he has to apply for an exemption to be allowed to stay open longer than 10 p.m., the usual closing time of supermarkets in Utrecht. This has been the case since 2016: first the shop on Ganzenmarkt was even allowed to open until 2 am, later it became midnight.
