It was last week that it emerged that high levels of intestinal bacteria E. coli were found in the water at the popular swimming spot in Rännösjön in Matfors. The municipality of Sundsvall then issued a strong advice against bathing as long as the samples showed the presence of the bacteria.
On Monday, the analysis of the most recently taken water samples came and they showed that the water is now serviceable.
“Totally normal”
– The situation is completely normal again. We will remove our advice immediately, says Joakim Söderlind.
According to the Swedish Food Agency, E. coli bacteria can cause diarrhea and in some cases serious complications on organs.
