The summer of fantasy series is ahead of us. But before the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon and Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power shake the series world, Sandman, the adaptation of one of the most groundbreaking graphic novels in the fantasy genre, will start on Netflix in just a few weeks.
After numerous teaser impressions, Netflix now revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con the first real trailer. And this promises an impressive and dark fantasy work full of demonic intrigues, magical creatures and exciting detours into dream worlds and hell dimensions.

British author Neil Gaiman published this between 1989 and 1993 Comic masterpiece The Sandman about the ruler of the dream world named Dream. After numerous failed attempts by Hollywood to film the nightmarish fantasy horror saga, the first live-action adaptation is finally imminent.
The plot of Sandman follows the Eternal Dream (Tom Sturridge), the Ruler of the realm of dreams. When an evil magician summons and captures him, the dream world has to do without a guide for over 100 years. Finally, Dream is able to free himself, but his kingdom is destroyed. Now he embarks on the adventurous Find the three stolen insigniathat give him his power.
Fans of the epic original can rest assured that they are in safe hands with this adaptation. Because creator Neil Gaiman himself is heavily involved in the project that he developed together with David S. Goyer and Allan Heinberg. Despite some minor changes and modernizations, the series aims to stay true to the storyline of the comics. In the first season, the first two of a total of 10 anthologies will be adapted: Preludes & Notturni and Das Puppenhaus.
The cast of Sandman brings together stars from Game of Thrones and Harry Potter
The cast of Sandman convinces with some well-known names from the fantasy genre. With Gwendoline Christie and Charles Dance, two Game of Thrones stars can be seen. These embody the princess of hell Lucifer Morningstar and the occultist Roderick Burgess. Harry Potter fans can look forward to a reunion with David ‘Remus Lupin’ Thewlis, who plays the psychopath John Dee.

Alongside Tom Sturridge as the sinister dream ruler Dream is Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, Logan) as the nightmarish villain The Corinthians. Also in the main cast are Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Joely Richardson as Ethel Cripps, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death and Mason Alexander Park as Desire. Star Wars legend Mark Hamill also lends his voice to pumpkin man Mervyn.
