A man in his 40s who was shot in the leg after threatening a policeman with a knife in Hudiksvall is charged with grossly unlawful threats against an official, local media reports.

It was at lunchtime on July 6 this year when the man went around several shops and forced goods at knifepoint, writes SVT Nyheter Gävleborg.

When a police patrol arrived at the scene, he threatened them with a knife, after which a police officer shot him in the leg on the pedestrian street in Hudiksvall.

The shooting has been investigated by the Special Prosecutor’s Chamber, which concluded that the action was justified. According to the investigation, the police acted completely correctly, reports P4 Gävleborg.

The man is also charged with robbery after stealing a mobile phone in a store, as well as with grossly illegal threats and illegal threats against store employees from whom he threatened to take goods. He is also charged with three counts of petty theft.

The man denies everything except a case of petty theft, according to SVT.
