Ridgetown woman accused of attacking former partner with knife

Chatham-Kent police responded Thursday morning to reports of a suspicious man behind a dumpster at a business on King Street West in Chatham.

Police believed the man to be in possession of drugs, so he was arrested. During the arrest, the man allegedly punched an officer and attempted to flee.

The 26-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer. He was taken to police headquarters and released with conditions and a short date.

Lease breach charge

Police were advised early Thursday afternoon that a man released from court under a conditional sentence order man was allegedly at a McNaughton Avenue business in Wallaceburg.

When the man had been released on May 30, one of his conditions was to remain in his home at all times, except for specific reasons, police said.

The 23-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a probation order. He was transported to headquarters and held for bail.

criminal harassment

Police were called to a Helen Street residence in Tilbury Thursday night for a suspicious person complaint.

Police said a woman had allegedly seen a man following her and told him to stop. However, the man allegedly continued to ride by the woman’s home.

Police located the man and arrested him.

The 25-year-old Blenheim man was charged with criminal harassment. He was transported to headquarters and released with conditions and a short date.
