With reference to “changes in the security situation”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has changed its travel advisory for Moldova. This means that the previous advice against non-essential travel to Moldova is lifted – except for the region of Transnistria.
The following advice now applies: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against non-essential travel to the region of Transnistria. The advice is valid until further notice.
Transnistria is a Russian-backed breakaway region in Moldova, on the border with Ukraine.
Many Western observers believe that one of Russia’s goals with the war of aggression against Ukraine is to create a land bridge to Transnistria.
