(Finance) – UK retail sales continued to decline in June. According to the Office for National Statistics, retail sales scored a decrease of 0.1% on a monthly basis, after the -0.8% recorded in May (revised figure from -0.5%). The figure is better than analysts’ expectations which were for a drop of 0.3%.
Every year you register a negative change of 5.8% compared to -4.7% in May and against -5.3% of the consensus.
The core retail sales, which exclude fuels, rose by 0.4% on the month after -1% in the previous month, compared to an estimated -9.4% by the market. Over the year, the core figure was -5.9% compared to the previous -5.5% and the expected -6.3%.
