The instant messaging app now allows you to easily migrate your chat history between Android smartphone and iPhone.
It’s now official: you can transfer your WhatsApp chat history from Android smartphone to iPhone. In June, Apple revealed that it had partnered with Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, to develop a solution allowing WhatsApp users to easily migrate their conversations from an Android smartphone to a new iPhone.
The feature, which until now was only available with the beta version of WhatsApp on Android, is now available for all messaging users. In its FAQ, WhatsApp lists the prerequisites for your chat history migration to work. You need a device running at least Android 5 or newer with the Move to iOS app installed, and an iPhone running iOS 15.5. Both devices must also be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Note that importing WhatsApp conversations from an Android smartphone to an iPhone must be done on a freshly unpacked iPhone or restored to its factory settings, in order to be able to access the data import screen from Android.
Also, you will need to use WhatsApp version 2.22.7.74 or later on your old Android smartphone, and install WhatsApp version 2.22.10.70 or later on your iPhone after the migration is complete. You will then only have to log in with your phone number on the WhatsApp application on the iPhone to find all your conversations.
