The South American trade bloc Mercosur has rejected a request from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj to speak at the organization’s summit on Thursday.
The host country Paraguay announces that the member countries Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay have not succeeded in agreeing to respond to Zelensky’s request. Deputy Foreign Minister Raul Cano did not want to reveal which country or countries were opposed.
Zelensky has spoken in a number of national parliaments as well as in the UN and at the World Economic Forum.
