Record numbers can get a new kidney this year. During the first half of 2022, 242 transplants were performed. If the pace continues, the total number could be 484 this year, writes Läkartidningen. The year 2022 will then hit the peak year 2019 when 480 kidney transplants were performed. Previously, only organ donations were made through DBD (donation after brain death).
