A new heat record has today been set in several places in the UK. There is a national emergency in the country and those who are worst affected are the elderly.
– The biggest challenge is breathing, says Michael Irons, a resident of a nursing home in Peterborough, who talks about the experience he finds painful.
The heat has put strain on many English hospitals and doctor’s surgeries and there are few nursing homes that have air conditioning.
