On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin landed in the Iranian capital, Tehran. It is the first time since the war began that he travels to a country that was not part of the former Soviet Union.
There, he met with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Ebrahim Raisi – but also Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan was on hand to discuss how to secure Ukrainian wheat exports to the Black Sea.
Formally, it was discussed how peace should be achieved in Syria, but according to foreign correspondent Stefan Borg, the bilateral meetings were also important.
