Malmö started off badly in Vilnius. Already in the seventh minute, Johan Dahlin in the Malmö goal had felt the ball. This time it was Mathias Oyewusi who did not really get his nod and the Swedish goalkeeper glued the ball.
A few minutes later, it was again close to a Lithuanian lead. As in a pinball game, the ball moved around the penalty area before Dahlin after a lot of effort could box it away.
Malmö had the ball in the first half, but few of the team’s attacks led to a really dangerous goal chance.
Instead, it was the home team that found the net first. Just a few minutes into the second half, Fabien Ourega sent a real cannon from the corner of the penalty area, an unattainable shot that sailed over Dahlin into the crossbar.
Malmö did not manage to turn the match around and now it is up to the team to turn the deficit at home next Wednesday, to have a chance to play further in the qualifiers.
