President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in Tehran, the capital of Iran, yesterday as part of an official visit upon the invitation of Iranian President Ibrahim Reisi. President Erdoğan was welcomed at Tehran Mehrabad International Airport by Iranian Petroleum Minister Cevad Uci, Iranian Presidential Office Protocol General Manager Reza Naghipour, Iran’s Ambassador to Ankara Mohammad Farazmand, Turkey’s Ambassador to Tehran Derya Örs and his wife Lale Örs and embassy staff.
During his visit to President Erdoğan; Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati, Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu, Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar, Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank and Minister of Trade Mehmet Muş accompanies.
AGENDA SYRIA
Within the framework of his visit, President Erdoğan will attend the Turkey-Iran High-Level Cooperation Meeting today in the format of Astana, which will be hosted by the President of Iran and with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, at the Seventh Trilateral Summit. The main agenda item of the summit, which will be attended by President Erdoğan, Russian President Putin and Iranian President İbrahim Reisi, will be Syria. At the summit in Astana format, current developments in Syria, the fight against terrorist organizations that pose a threat to regional security, especially PKK/YPG and DAESH, efforts for a political solution, the humanitarian situation and the voluntary return of Syrians to their countries are expected to be discussed.
NEW OPERATION IS ON THE TABLE
At the summit in Tehran, Turkey’s possible operation against terrorist targets in northern Syria and the presence of PKK/YPG on its southern border will also be discussed.
DUAL MEETING WITH PUTIN
President Erdoğan will also hold a bilateral meeting with his Russian counterpart, Putin.
