A small plane has crashed in the northeastern part of Lake Siljan, near Sollerön. Two people must have been on board when the accident occurred.
One of them has been found in the water, according to Anders Lännholm, rescue leader at the Sea and Air Rescue Center.
– It is witnesses who have seen and heard an airplane crash into Siljan.
The alarm about the incident came in at 4.15 pm on Monday. Police, rescue services and boats from the Swedish Sea Rescue Society are on site. The Swedish Maritime Administration’s rescue helicopter and an ambulance helicopter have also been alerted to the accident site.
– We found fuel on the surface and later we also found a person and some wreckage, says Anders Lännholm.
The damage situation is unclear.
It is a US-registered aircraft and two German citizens on board.
– We continue to search intensively.
