update on the latest rumors

If Ubisoft made an appointment in September to discuss the future of Assassin’s Creed – most likely during the Ubisoft Forward which will take place from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. – this does not prevent insiders from continuing to scrape information from from their sources, even if it means going all over the place. What seems certain is that the future of the series will go through two games: Assassin’s Creed Rift and Assassin’s Creed Infinity.

Regarding Assassin’s Creed Rift, Youtuber ACG said a few days ago that the adventure would take place during the time of the Aztecs. A claim quickly denied by the very serious Jason Schreier who is formal: Assassin’s Creed Rift will take place in Baghdad. For the record, this episode – still according to rumors – should focus on Basim Ibn Ishaq, a major character from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, with gameplay mechanics mainly revolving around infiltration. Originally thought of as an extension of Valhalla, the game would finally arrive as a stand-alone during the first half of 2023.

As for Assassin’s Creed Infinity, insiders understand that it will offer a service-oriented game experience, with therefore several heroes and different periods. And according to the latest indiscretions of journalist Jeff Grubb, one of them would be Japan. This isn’t the first time the Land of the Rising Sun has been cited as a potential historical context, with fans no doubt recalling rumors surrounding Assassin’s Creed Warriors and its heroine Akako Shiratori. But in reality, this fantasy of an episode taking place in the time of the samurai dates back to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (2013), a dream that has since been satisfied by the excellent Ghost of Tsushima. Anyway, unlike Assassin’s Creed Rift, Assassin’s Creed Infinity (2024-2025) would take the RPG approach of the last games in the franchise, and would therefore have much greater ambitions.

Can’t wait for Ubisoft to put all this in order.
